YOUTH VOTING & TURNOUT
YOUTH VOTING & TURNOUT
YOUTH VOTING & TURNOUT
Youth, Millennials and Gen Z, are now the largest sector of the U.S. electorate. If they vote, Youth have the power to determine the outcome of every election. Yet traditionally they don’t vote.

NOBODY IS LISTENING TO ONE ANOTHER

18 is on a mission to disrupt traditional youth engagement models by taking an authentic approach to empowering Youth to vote. Our programs are based on real world experiences and tap a powerful historical lens many Youth are not aware of: the recent, hard won right to vote for women and minorities. We infuse civics and history with a pop-culture sensibility in a proven approach to and help young people claim their power, their voice, and their vote.

Why Youth don’t vote

  • THE PLANET IS TOO FAR GONE…
  • IT’S ONLY GETTING WORSE
  • MY VOICE DOESN’T EVEN MATTER
  • NOBODY IS LISTENING TO ONE ANOTHER
  • TOO MUCH POLARITY
  • THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED

Youth Voter Registration and Turnout: Vote for Us

“What would you say to an 18 year old who doesn’t vote?” We asked the next generation of Youth voters, Youth too young to vote. This is what they told us….

“I just have one question for you. What kind of a world do you want to live in?” – Milena, 15

“Don’t just sit around and wait for something to happen, because if you do that, nothing is going to happen.” – Savannah, 10,

“If you have a dream, speak up for it and go for it.” – Antonio, 9,

“Sometimes when I just go to school, I feel that I am in danger. And that it is normal to need identification cards and for there to be security guards positioned outside. It’s … very… stressful.” Owen talks about gun control. “If I found out there were 18 year olds who weren’t voting I would say to them, ‘How can you say your voice doesn’t matter? How can you say it doesn’t make a difference? You have to vote. Don’t let people choose for you.” – Owen, 14,

What would you say to Gen Z and Millennials who don’t vote?

Youth Voter Registration and Turnout with Voters NOT Politicians

18 collaborated with Voters Not Politicians, a nonpartisan grassroots ballot initiative, to overturn one of the most egregious gerrymandering situations in the country.

18 invited Constitutional Scholar Adam Eichman to teach 18’s Student Creative Agency at the High School of Art and Design about the negative impacts of gerrymandering. 18’s student team then designed anti-gerrymandering social media campaign geared to educate the Youth Vote and improve Youth voter turnout in Detroit, Michigan.

Youth Voter Registration and Turnout with Patagonia

18 collaborated with Patagonia to register and turnout Youth voters and voters of all ages in New York City. Our Patagonia Beat the Deadline Registration event and Post-it Turnout event invited New Yorkers to register to vote and share the reasons why they are voting. What are you voting for?

18’s partner, TurboVote, makes Voter Registration simple and easy.
